Da Bird consists of a 36" fiberglass rod, 50 lb. test braided nylon string and aerodynamically configured feathers that mimic the action and of a REAL bird in flight. The ORIGINAL Da Bird is a single pole that is 36 inches long. They also make a version that has a pull apart pole (it is actually 2 18 inch poles that connect on the ends) so it can be easily stored and/or mailed. Both offer your cat great fun! The way the feathers spin, the noise they make - it really does sound like fluttering wings. Still the favorite, every time it's brought out. It's the only toy that can get my older, arthritic cat moving, which he does need to do. I much prefer this original one-piece rod to the one that comes apart. The original may not be as convenient to store, but I find that the one that comes apart for storage does exactly the same thing when my cats play with it. It's by far her favorite toy and you can't beat the price. You will probably have to replace the feathers at some point but what do you expect. She even races off with the feather in her mouth, with the rod attached. We all have a blast with this one! I purchased additional feathers for it, because I'm sure we will need them very soon!
